About The Position

As a Senior Product Engineer - Cellular, you will be a key member of SEL's cellular and connected solutions team, focusing on developing secure and robust wireless communication solutions for mission-critical applications. This role involves leveraging your expertise in cellular technologies to enhance situational awareness and ensure the safety of the Electric Grid.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience in RF Engineering, Cellular Certification, and subject matter expertise in 4G LTE and 5G systems.
  • Experience or interest in communications and electric power systems.
  • Ability to interface with Hardware, Firmware, and Software Engineering teams.
  • Strong writing, technical documentation, speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, signal generator, and multimeter.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of 4G LTE/5G cellular physical layer operation (3GPP).
  • Familiarity with USB2.0/3.0, mPCIe, PCIe, M.2 interfaces.
  • Knowledge of power management, USB HUB, and signal conversion.
  • Ability to interface with Cellular Carriers for compliance requirements.
  • Experience reviewing schematic diagrams and PCB layouts.
  • Proficiency with Python for automation or verification.
  • Experience with packet capture tools like Wireshark.
  • Understanding of networking and securing communications, such as IPSec, TLS.
  • Familiarity with emerging cellular technologies like pLTE/Anterix, eSIM, iSIM.

Responsibilities

  • Possess Cellular technologies subject matter expertise including 5G, 4G LTE, public cellular networks, and Private LTE (pLTE).
  • Develop relationships with internal and external customers to capture requirements and application specifications.
  • Assist in troubleshooting connectivity issues and configurations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide customer feedback to Product Management to enhance product offerings.
  • Support internal and external sales partners with technical inquiries and presentations.
  • Influence the Cellular connectivity roadmap and guide the product team on certification processes.
  • Validate hardware, firmware, and integrated software solutions.
  • Participate in writing technical papers, application guides, and instruction manuals.
  • Attend industry technical meetings and conferences.
