About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Senior Product Engineer - ATS based onsite at our Arden, NC manufacturing facility. Relocation assistance is available for candidates currently residing in the US. In this role, the Sr Product Engineer will provide Customer Order Engineering (COE) or Engineered to Order (ETO) support and designs for the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) product line. This includes, but is not limited to: participating in engineering electrical/mechanical designs, providing direction and review to other Engineers/ Designers and collaboration with direct Customers/Field Sales. This position will interface with other departments including manufacturing, supply chain, operational excellence (OPEX) and quality. This role will also participate in engineering standards development for repeat Custom Order Engineering (COE) Automatic Transfer Switch designs to reduce variability in manufacturing builds and support VAVE/Cost out activities and design related process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of engineering experience working in a manufacturing environment or ETO environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors in mechanical, mechatronics or electrical engineering.
  • Four (4) years of experience supporting engineering to order of electrical equipment or components.
  • Experience with 3D Modeling/design for sheet metal, copper, etc and assemblies.
  • Experience or understanding of electrical wiring or schematic design.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a variety of complex drawings and bills-of-material based upon established product designs, which provide sufficient detail to accurately convey the purchaser’s equipment application per UL 1008 and other applicable standards.
  • Consults with plant and field sales engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications.
  • Coordinates mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of the full breadth of product line offering, including complex wiring and design applications to provide exceptional solutions.
  • Advises ETO/COE technician, Manufacturing and Purchasing (as needed) in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment in accordance with the purchaser’s requirements.
  • Consults with the Quality Department in resolving issues after the equipment is shipped, when required.
  • Completes and manages assigned small/large projects to completion in meeting deadlines with little or no supervision.
  • Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project.
  • Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations.
  • Possesses excellent communication and presentation skills. Possesses strong computer skills and proficiency with AutoCAD/Inventor and other Engineering/Business software applications.
  • Interfaces daily with remote Engineering locations including Juarez, MX and Pune, IN in the processing of customer orders. Assists in the activities of various engineering resources in these locations.
