About The Position

Stable's mission is to simplify headquartering any business on the internet by providing a business address and an online dashboard for physical mail management. Over 7000+ companies, including Doordash, Gitlab, Glassdoor, and Hims, utilize Stable to automate their mailroom and serve as their permanent business address for official entities like the IRS and state. The company aims to modernize antiquated US entity regulations, abstracting complex systems into delightful experiences for modern businesses. Stable is backed by prominent Silicon Valley investors and is experiencing rapid growth, servicing companies across various stages and industries. This role offers an opportunity to join an early-stage startup as one of the first employees, directly impacting the future of company building. As a designer at Stable, you will operate in an AI-forward, builder-led environment, taking ownership of your work from discovery to delivery. This includes writing product briefs, querying live business data, and working closely with code. You will make impactful product decisions in collaboration with engineering and stakeholders. A key aspect of this role involves designing solutions at the intersection of digital software and physical operations, translating complex real-world workflows (like those in mail processing centers handling over 1M pieces of mail) into simple, intuitive software experiences. The design team is small but established, offering a strong foundation for collaboration with experienced designers and an active role in shaping the product's design as the company scales.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in product design at fast-moving companies.
  • Experience as a product design generalist: comfortable shifting between research, UI design, systems thinking, and everything in between.
  • Interest in emerging design tools and AI-assisted workflows. You see where the industry is headed and you’re moving in that direction.
  • Strong project management skills and a track record of driving projects to completion.
  • Excellent design foundations (hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design).
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to break down complex problems into clear, iterative milestones.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at B2B companies
  • Experience designing for physical real-world processes
  • Familiarity with frontend code and component systems

Responsibilities

  • Hunt for data and customer opportunities: leverage our custom internal Stable MCP as your data analyst sidekick. Spin up your own reports and dashboards (with backup from our Data team when you need it). Speak and test directly with users to understand their pain points and needs.
  • Make product decisions: balance intuition, data, and research to determine what to build, what to cut, and when to ship. Own and challenge business goals while empathizing with and advocating for our customers.
  • Design product solutions: craft early concepts in tools like Figma Make, Claude, or Cursor. Make final polish and refinements in Figma or code, wherever it makes the most sense.
  • Partner with engineering: you’ll embed with a “pod” (three to four team members who own a specific product initiative) and collaborate closely to deliver value to our customers and to the business.
  • Build design systems: contribute to and evolve our design system, creating reusable patterns that strengthen the overall product. Use LLM code assistants to improve product quality and bring delight to the customer experience.
  • Bridge digital and physical: design solutions that work seamlessly across software interfaces and real-world operations, considering the full customer journey. This isn’t typical SaaS: clicking a button in our software has real-world implications.
  • Evolve how we design: stay curious about new tools and workflows (including AI, LLMs, generative technology) and help improve how we deliver value through design. Make more time for the human side of design while automating the tedious, repetitive parts.
  • Drive alignment: communicate clearly with stakeholders across the company, keeping teams aligned throughout the design process.
