Requirements

  • In applicable science or engineering discipline entry level PhD degree, MS degree with 2-4 years experience; or BS and 5-10 years experience.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques.
  • Has working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
  • Ten (10) years DOE, DOD or NRC nuclear experience commensurate with education criteria.
  • Ten (10) years process engineering experience on nuclear projects at SRS and/or other DOE facilities.
  • Ten (10) years of experience on Pu processing and manufacturing technology.
  • Prior operations experience at SRS facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Scope technical tasks and develop creative solutions to assigned problems.
  • Begin using systems and meeting requirements with minimal supervisory guidance.
  • Accept complex tasks and receive minimal guidance from senior professionals.
  • Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features into problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide limited guidance and direction to less senior engineering professionals.
  • Carry out development and qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other phases such as design and fabrication.
  • Develop alternate solutions to existing problems.
  • Evaluate proposals and make recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks.
  • Prepare costs and schedule estimates on proposed projects/tasks.
  • Prepare manuals and other documents supporting or publicizing the technical effort.
