Acts as staff specialist or supervising Process Engineer for a major project. Requires in depth knowledge and experience in Process/Design Engineering, as well as ability to independently make decisions on significant process design problems and methods . Requirements

Requires a minimum of 10 years experience in Process/Design Engineering or related functional area (or equivalent working knowledge/experience).
Registration as a licensed professional engineer is required.
Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, managers, designers and engineers.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Normally requires at least a four-year degree in Chemical Engineering.

Responsibilities

Responsible for technical direction and assistance over a group of engineers and technicians assigned to a highly complex process plant project.
May function as a group leader over less experienced engineers and technicians.
Is responsible for coordinating and reviewing progress of group activities.
Analyzes and documents scope of project and technical aspects in accordance with client and company specifications.
Oversees activities regarding overall plant design .
Determines Process staffing needs for project.
Prepares equipment specifications.
Participates in or facilitates Process safety reviews.
Evaluates project progress and personnel performance.
Identifies problems for investigation and recommends solutions or major design changes.
Participates in preparation of contract proposals.
