Acts as staff specialist or supervising Process Engineer for a major project. Requires in depth knowledge and experience in Process/Design Engineering, as well as ability to independently make decisions on significant process design problems and methods . Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 10 years experience in Process/Design Engineering or related functional area (or equivalent working knowledge/experience).
  • Registration as a licensed professional engineer is required.
  • Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, managers, designers and engineers.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Normally requires at least a four-year degree in Chemical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical direction and assistance over a group of engineers and technicians assigned to a highly complex process plant project.
  • May function as a group leader over less experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Is responsible for coordinating and reviewing progress of group activities.
  • Analyzes and documents scope of project and technical aspects in accordance with client and company specifications.
  • Oversees activities regarding overall plant design .
  • Determines Process staffing needs for project.
  • Prepares equipment specifications.
  • Participates in or facilitates Process safety reviews.
  • Evaluates project progress and personnel performance.
  • Identifies problems for investigation and recommends solutions or major design changes.
  • Participates in preparation of contract proposals.
