About The Position

Precision Neuroscience is building a next-generation brain–computer interface (BCI) to heal and empower millions of people living with neurological conditions. Our first product, Layer 7, is designed to help people with severe paralysis operate digital devices using only their thoughts—opening up new possibilities for daily life. Our team brings together experts in neurosurgery, AI and machine learning, microfabrication, electrical engineering, clinical science, and more. We combine deep technical rigor with a people-first mindset to turn breakthrough research into real-world medical solutions. As a Precision employee, you’ll join one of the fastest-moving and best-capitalized companies in the emerging field of brain–computer interfaces. Since our founding in 2021, we have raised more than $180 million, advanced our technology through validation, and initiated human trials with leading hospitals across the country. We are seeking a Senior/Staff Process Engineer to serve as a key technical lead for advanced device assembly process development in our Addison, Texas facility. This role focuses on driving the development, optimization, and production release of next-generation assembly processes (V2 and V3 programs), with primary emphasis on thermal compression bonding (TCB), laser-based processes (dicing, ablation), hermetic/2D/3D packaging, and integration of mechanical surgical interfaces. This position will be based in our Addison, TX office. We are unable to consider remote workers or individuals who are not currently based in the US and legally authorized to work in the US.

Requirements

  • Education + experience: BS in Engineering + 5–10 years relevant experience MS in Engineering + 3–8 years relevant experience PhD + 1–5 years relevant experience
  • Direct hands-on exposure to device assembly processes, including: Thermal compression bonding (TCB) Adhesive / silicone dispense
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling for assembly fixture design (SolidWorks or Fusion 360)
  • Proficiency in 2D layout/design for laser processing or mask generation (L-Edit or KLayout)

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to front-end MEMS fabrication techniques: photolithography, thin film deposition (PECVD, HDPCVD), plasma deposition, and plasma etching.
  • Experience creating 2D designs/layout for lithography masks.
  • Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) development or implementation.
  • Background in hermetic packaging and/or 2D/3D microelectronic assembly.
  • Experience qualifying automated assembly equipment for production release.

Responsibilities

  • Experience with 2D/3D hermetic packaging, laser welding, brazing, leak testing.
  • Ownership of key tools/processes: Finetech Femto (automated TCB), automated solder jetting, laser dicing/ablation, dispense systems.
  • Collaborate with R&D and mechanical engineering to develop laser dicing & ablation, reflow, and surgical interface integration processes.
  • Design and fabrication of assembly fixtures using 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Fusion 360).
  • Laser process development using 2D layout tools (L-Edit or KLayout).
  • Support R&D assembly requests and cross-functional collaboration for process integration.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and production transfer readiness.
