The RMD team is looking for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) department. The MDS department provides subject matter expertise for concept development, architectural design, requirements generation & flow-down, modeling and simulation, systems analysis, integration, test and evaluation of world-class Missile Defense & Sensor Systems to be achieved through our people, processes, technology and performance. This position is on site in San Diego, CA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Battle Management command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (BMC4I) systems, Radar Systems or signal processing techniques
  • Experience with developing, documenting and maintaining processes, methods and tools
  • Ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues
  • Experience working with Matlab, C/C++, Java or DOORS
  • Analytic, technical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Experience with system level requirements development, documentation and maintenance and/or requirements development and design of system level software architecture
  • Experience with radar system concepts; detection, discrimination, track and signal processing algorithms and their behaviors and performance
  • Experience with the development and coding of system models, algorithms, test vectors and analysis tools in support of analyzing radar requirements and performance
  • Experience and interest in Information Assurance/Cyber Engineering requirements, determination, development and implementation
  • Experience in using AI/ML and signal processing in database and algorithm design and enhancement
  • Previous military service
  • Ability to interface with customers and lead technical solutions to complex user needs
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or greater

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing radar system performance data with respect to requirements
  • Identifying performance deficiencies and proposing solutions
  • Defining and prototyping new algorithms to enhance system performance
  • Presenting plans, designs and system performance to peers, internal leadership and external customers
  • Providing subject matter expertise to agile software development teams to ensure proper implementation of requirements
