About The Position

We are seeking an Experienced EO/IR Systems Engineer to develop laser, electro-optic, and infrared systems for our defense aerospace customers. As an individual contributor, you will work as part of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team contributing to the design, modeling, simulation, and testing efforts that will evolve next-generation of autonomous systems supporting the digital/electronic warfare battle environment. We support next-generation threat detection, countermeasures and defensive counter-attack solutions to provide customers and users full-spectrum electronic capabilities to enhance mission survivability. This position is in Austin, TX with a relocation to our new state of the art Howard Lane facility. Candidates for this position can expect to work in small to, equity mid-size teams that are cooperative, dependable, and supportive working as both co-located and geographically distributed. The successful candidate will be responsible for requirements analysis and decomposition, system design, and collaboration with engineers from other disciplines. You will also perform, delivering technical value, in BAE Systems’ Countermeasure & Attack Solutions (CEMA) Business Area. CEMA has immediate openings for systems engineering in the (ISS) Product Lines. Also, as a technical contributor, you will work with other engineering staff members to grow and capture our knowledge through engineering changes, lessons learned and product/process improvements in your area(s) of expertise. Requirements

  • Associate's degree in engineering or related field with 10 + years related experience
  • Experience on laser development programs, or other electro-optic/infrared development programs
  • Proficient with Python and/or MATLAB software.
  • Experience in optical and opto-mechanical systems.
  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status

Nice To Haves

  • Possessing an ability to be cleared for an active Secret Clearance to support designing military products, specifically countermeasure systems, EO/IR camera systems, or soft kill countermeasure systems
  • Experience with MBSE Digital Engineering and SysML applications/tools like MagicDraw
  • Strong background in requirements analysis and design.
  • Experience with integration and test is also desirable
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers in other disciplines
  • Experience with any of the following:
  • System Engineering life cycle practices and processes (INCOSE)
  • Specific skills within the domains of active EO/IR, passive EO/IR or Electronic Warfare (EW)
  • Executing tasks in Agile Environments (Sprints, Daily Scrums, Retrospectives, Planning Poker)

Responsibilities

  • Supporting existing EO/IR SME in architect, design, development, test & integration of mission critical systems
  • Understanding and implementing test requirements in the process of building, integrating and testing laser optical systems for test equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Presenting contributions and lessons learned to teammates through Agile Scrum Methodology
