The Data-Rich Experimentation (DRE) Group within the Process Research & Development (R&D) Enabling Technologies department is seeking highly motivated and technically focused individuals who are looking for opportunities to positively impact our Company's process development practices, while actively supporting drug development in the biologics, vaccine and small molecule spaces. The DRE group is tasked with identifying, developing, and deploying tools and methodologies aimed at improving the manner in which process understanding is gathered. The technologies we develop are as diverse as the team developing them. Current areas of interest include: high-throughput experimentation and bench-top automation, process modeling and simulation, kinetics and mechanism elucidation, process analytical technologies (PAT), machine learning and data science, etc. Our team is responsible for the invention and application of new tools to support the scientists across Process R&D, and aspires to embed data-intense tools into the fabric of the organization’s process development culture. Additionally, the DRE group is actively driving digital transformation within the Process R&D and Development Sciences and Clinical Supply communities. A key aspect of this role will be the invention, development, and application of cutting-edge digital technologies. Expertise in any of the aforementioned technologies would be considered for this position, however demonstrated skills in process modeling and simulation, machine learning/AI, physical lab automation (including high throughput experimentation and benchtop automation) are particularly desirable. As a member of the DRE group, the chosen applicant will carry out collaborative research which involves conceiving, designing, planning, and implementing advanced studies aimed at further establishing data-rich experimental methodologies and digital workflows. A high level of innovation, creativity, and initiative along with the ability to plan and execute technically sound experiments are critical, as is a sound understanding of the optimal application of digital technologies. The chosen candidate should also have excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills and exhibit a strength in delivering results on firm deadlines.
