About The Position

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Senior Principal Research Engineer / Scientist to support our Huntsville, AL location. We are seeking a Senior Principal Research Engineer/Scientist to join our team at PeopleTec, Inc. This is a remote, senior-level position for applicants with 10-15 years of experience in research and development, program management, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building and managing relationships with Government and industry stakeholders, identifying and capturing new business opportunities, and aligning technical capabilities with organizational goals. In this role, you will focus on developing and executing strategies to expand our research and development portfolio. You will work closely with internal teams to identify opportunities, shape programs, and support proposal development. You will serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance to the team and mentoring junior researchers. Additionally, you will represent the organization in external engagements, leveraging your technical expertise and professional network to build partnerships and drive growth. This position requires a Ph.D. in a relevant field, as well as a proven track record of leadership in research, program development, and business capture.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience in research and development, program management, strategic planning, or business capture.
  • Demonstrated experience with laboratory instrumentation, test stand development, and troubleshooting experimental setups.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional networks with Government and industry stakeholders.
  • Experience leading or supporting the capture of research and development programs, including proposal development and resource alignment.
  • Strong understanding of Government funding processes, including identifying opportunities and shaping programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical and strategic concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding junior staff.
  • Familiarity with research and development processes, including transitioning technologies from concept to application.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and be eligible to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, or a related field is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to identify and capture new research and development opportunities in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Government and industry stakeholders to identify collaboration opportunities and expand the organization’s network.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in RF laboratory testing, test stand prototyping, and experiment design, providing technical guidance to the team.
  • Lead or support the development of proposals, including shaping technical approaches, identifying key personnel, and aligning resources.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, meetings, and other external engagements to promote capabilities and establish partnerships.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including customer reports and publication-quality scientific literature.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align technical capabilities with customer needs and strategic priorities.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff on program development, networking, and business capture.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in research, technology, and Government funding to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
