The Starburst Engineering Department, based in Largo, FL, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Project Engineer to drive the management and deployment of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) solutions for the Starburst program. In this role, you will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team of experts, including System Engineers, Software Engineers, Cyber Engineers, Digital Technology specialists, and Field Services professionals. Your primary responsibilities will include defining and maintaining detailed project plans, leading technical trade studies, ensuring adherence to established processes, and serving as the technical liaison between program leadership and stakeholders. As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in achieving the program’s technical objectives, working closely with Domain Leads and Program Leadership to deliver cutting-edge products and services that advance the program’s mission. We are seeking a Senior Principal Project Engineer to work onsite at Largo, Florida. This position requires an active Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations, with a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated Project Engineering experience with a proven track record.
  • Experience effectively communicating and presenting with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team.
  • Strong organization, coordination, planning, and teaming skills, with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated success working in team or matrixed environments.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TOP SECRET security clearance is required prior to start date. (with SCI eligibility)
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Proficiency in Project Management Tools: Experience using Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar platforms for scheduling, task management, and tracking project progress.
  • Agile Methodology Expertise: Strong understanding and application of Agile methodologies, including SCRUM, for iterative development and team collaboration.
  • Risk Management: Skilled in identifying potential risks, developing mitigation strategies, and implementing proactive solutions to ensure project success.
  • Requirements Management: Experience in decomposing, prioritizing, and managing technical and functional requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Manage Project Plans: Lead the planning and coordination of project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring alignment with the program's Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Drive Technical Execution: Oversee the successful implementation of project activities, delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • Integrate Complex Systems: Ensure seamless integration of program and product components, fostering collaboration across teams to deliver cohesive solutions.
  • Achieve Technical Objectives: Set and accomplish key technical milestones, driving innovation and meeting program goals.
  • Lead Trade Studies: Conduct and manage trade studies to evaluate and optimize design, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
