About The Position

As a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer at Genentech, you’ll have the unique opportunity to lead the charge in designing and upgrading advanced mechanical systems for a dynamic and evolving portfolio of facilities spanning over 6 million square feet across South San Francisco, Dixon, and beyond. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 15 years or more pharmaceutical technology experience in industry or academia after receiving their Bachelor’s Degree.
  • At least 8 years of experience in mechanical system design, construction, and/or commissioning and qualification activities.
  • Working knowledge of ANSI / ASHRAE, NEMA, NFPA, EPA, and OSHA standards.
  • Pharmaceutical GMP project mechanical design experience is highly desired.
  • LEED certification, project management experience, and/or LEAN / Six Sigma certification are preferred.
  • Excellent communication (written/verbal), presentation, leadership, interpersonal, collaborative, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills.
  • Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and accountability for mechanical engineering designs on capital projects and engineering services.
  • Engage actively in the design and planning of upgrades to critical mechanical infrastructure, utilities, and facility HVAC systems.
  • Support the execution of a portfolio of projects with technical input and coordination in the mechanical engineering area.
  • Attend key design meetings and provide design input and technical options analysis for large scale projects.
  • Align, coordinate input, and influence key customers and stakeholders on project designs.
  • Manage and oversee other Mechanical SMEs as required.
  • Develop site-specific mechanical design standards based on corporate standards.
  • Lead a mechanical engineering design sub-team for projects under $10M.
  • Drive innovation across the design and construction of building systems.
  • Engage with the Roche Engineering Network and outside industry organizations for continuous learning.
  • Support broad Design Engineering process improvement projects and LEAN initiatives.
