About The Position

MaxLinear is seeking a Senior Principal IC Design Engineer, Power Management to join our team. In this role, you will focus on the following: Participate in the product definition, system requirements, and spec tradeoffs with the marketing and systems team Lead the execution from concept to product release of innovative Power Management products Mentor and provide technical guidance to your team of experienced and junior Analog IC Design engineers Transistor level design of Analog and Mixed Signal Power Management ICs Provide technical leadership in driving architecture design and circuit design based on high-level specifications Own technical outcome of design, verification, implementation, and execution of Power Management ICs with complexities that can span from simple regulators to complex designs, control loops, and digital interfaces Validate and debug ICs, identify and implement circuit solutions and transfer the ICs to production Collaborate with senior management to create the project execution plan with the required resources, maintain and update the plan during the project execution phase, and be responsible for achieving schedule objectives Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Program Management, Technology, Product, Test, Packaging, and Applications teams at all project phases to successfully bring new products from concept to release to production

Requirements

  • Seasoned technical leader who has a solid track record of successfully leading projects and delivering complex Power Management ICs from concept to production
  • Familiarity with engineering processes, principles, and methodologies
  • Solid understanding of Analog Integrated Circuit design with focus on Power Management ICs
  • Solid understanding of Bipolar, CMOS and High Voltage BCD technology, Process, Device Physics, Semiconductor Manufacturing processes and their impact on analog performance
  • Excellent team player with technical leadership skills
  • Experience in simplifying complex problems into smaller problems and solve them as a team
  • Solid understanding of various Power Converters such as Buck, Boost, LDOs and relevant Analog building blocks
  • Solid understanding of topologies and architectures for Constant-on-time, Peak and Valley Current Mode, Voltage Mode, Hysteretic, Multi-Phase Controllers and Smart Power Stages
  • Experience with behavioral modeling using a top-down approach and mixed signal verification methodology
  • Strong Analog IC design skills, debug of complex silicon problems using simulations and/or bench testing
  • Good understanding of large power transistor (LDMOS) design, layout, and robustness
  • Proficiency in leading edge design and verification tools such as Simplis or MATLAB for architectural simulations, Cadence Spectre for schematic capture, simulation, layout and tape-out
  • Experience in state-of-the-art Analog/Digital interfaces and digital buses for CPU voltage rail control
  • Experience in POLs using integrated power FETs and controllers
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues, propose innovative solutions and drive them to completion
  • Strong written, verbal, and communication skills, ability to inspire and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related + 11 years of experience, or MS + 9 years of experience, or Ph.D. + 6 years of experience
