About The Position

At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. Raytheon's Receiver/Exciter & Processing Architecture (REPA) Department is the focal point for receiver, exciter, beam steering, and signal processing technology in the Raytheon business. The department is responsible for the design, development, integration, support to production builds, and lifecycle support of Raytheon products. REPA has an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer who is seeking to use their strong academic background and professional experience in digital/analog hardware and subsystem design to help develop and produce the next generation of Raytheon's Radar Receiver, Exciter, and Transmitter subsystems. The successful candidate to fill this Senior Principal Hardware Design Engineer role will employ their working knowledge of Circuit Card Assemblies and analytical skills to design and develop products with application in signal processing, command, and control. The scope of this role includes design of mixed signal hardware to support both new and existing Raytheon products. You will perform circuit and sub-system architecture, design, modeling, simulation, and verification as well as integration and test at component, CCA, and subsystem levels. These design efforts will include collaboration with systems engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other electrical engineers to perform design trades and requirements flow down, perform electrical analysis, develop test plans, and ultimately to deliver working hardware that meets program requirements.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in Digital CCA Design; Parts selection, Schematic capture, Library management, and Parts Lists creation.
  • Experience in PCB Design - Stackup/Plane/Routing rules definition & verification, Placement, Constraints setting, and DRC validation.
  • Experience in Design Verification/Analysis - Timing, Power, and Signal Integrity Analysis, Bench Level testing, Troubleshooting, and Test Results analysis.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as an electrical engineer developing digital/mixed signal high speed Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interfacing and testing with testing Digital to Analog Converters (D/A) and Analog to Digital Converters (A/D).
  • Experience with various digital high-speed interfaces such as JESD204B, Memory (DDR3, DDR4), SERDES, 10G+ Ethernet, Fiber Channel.
  • Background in FPGA hardware inference designs including SERDES, LVDS chip-to-chip and board-to-board.
  • Understanding of allocating and flowing down requirements from the system to the component level.
  • Must be able to conduct Trade Studies and produce comprehensive Design Documentation including Test Requirements & Design Memos.
  • Knowledge of cost estimating, plus budget and schedule management.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, phase noise analyzer (PNA), and spectrum analyzer to test and verify the functions of digital and mixed signal circuits and systems.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations.
  • Active / Existing Secret U.S. Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Mixed signal circuit and sub-system architecture, design, modeling, simulation, and verification.
  • Perform Design Analysis (Timing, Power, Signal Integrity).
  • Work with ECAD designers to generate full Databases and Drawings to build PWB/CCAs.
  • Integration and design verification test at component, CCA, and subsystem levels.
  • Mentor Junior Engineers.
