About The Position

As a Senior Principal Engineering Technologist, you'll be responsible for applied research or advanced engineering in the development of new products, materials or processes which includes the assimilation and understanding of the industry and competitive environment for a given technology or product line, and the derivation of a technology/product strategy from this information. You'll lead technology investigations, perform a strategic analysis of the industry capabilities and develop recommendations which influence the technical product strategy and/or definition of products for a given product line, including evaluation of potential acquisitions and vendor partner opportunities. You'll also engage with design teams, systems engineering, marketing teams, suppliers and business unit leaders and executives to ensure the strategy or product architecture meets Dell's requirement of product leadership for the given technology area or product line.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of a product technology and system level integration as well as knowledge of engineering methods in a field of specialty.
  • Ability to interface effectively with suppliers to ensure they are both doing research and providing information on products or services that have value to the company.
  • Communication ability through presentation, interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to conduct presentations to peers, cross-functional teams and director level leadership.
  • Comprehend appropriate technologies, vendor products and competitor's offerings.
  • Understand and apply Dell's long-term business goals and objectives.

  • Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor's degree; or 8+ years with a Master's degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience.
