Your Role at Baxter In Patient Support Systems (PSS), the sustaining engineering project team handles engineering product changes for released products to achieve company savings goals. You will be part of a cost savings group with project leaders and engineers aiming for annual savings. We develop solutions in a collaborative environment involving various support functions. We foresee changing project needs and address issues to avoid delays and disruptions for operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 7+ years of experience.
  • Proficient in CAD and the use of FEA tools.
  • Stack up analysis experience.
  • Ability to generate alternative solutions to problems or processes, with an emphasis on building for technical cost reductions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Experience in the medical device industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify technical problems, provide innovative, creative solutions; share technical knowledge with the team.
  • Identify, through value engineering, potential cost savings throughout the PSS product portfolio.
  • Take action using engineering tools and abilities on the identified savings to manage the projects from early feasibility through implementation.
  • Invent solutions that satisfy customer and development requirements verified through validation and verification.
  • Coordinate with finance to generate and control capital budgets for each project.
  • Integrate business, market, industry, and competitive insights into technical solutions that can be easily adjusted to shifts in technology and/or clinical application.
  • Generate alternatives and take reasonable risks while solving technical problems.
  • Complete detailed, high-quality technical documentation to capture and communicate builds.
  • Acquire understanding of the business, market, industry, and competitive environment.
  • Use existing tools and guidelines to report and track product, project, and process metrics.
  • Complete assigned tasks on time with minimal supervision.
  • Challenge project teams and established work processes and proactively find creative methods to reach desired performance levels.
  • Act as a role model to junior staff and inform others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work and their ability to meet commitments.
