The Raytheon team is looking for a Senior Principal Software Engineer to support our radar programs and the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software (SW) Department. The MDS SW mission is to provide world class Radar and Command and Control (C2) Software for our customers’ wide array of Surveillance and Warning Systems. We align to the core Agile and DevSecOps principles of collaborative operation across the entire value stream, delivering high-frequency, high-quality deployments to our customers. The job location for this opportunity is in Woburn, Massachusetts.

  • Demonstrate your leadership skills with the ability to coordinate the activities of multiple engineers working on a program, ensuring successful technical execution and delivery of solutions for the customer.
  • Utilize your proactive leadership skills – have proven ability to recognize issues early and to lead and motivate teams by making smaller, decisive corrections to avoid larger problems.
  • Be adept at communicating (verbal and written) with all levels within and outside the company, ability to prepare and deliver presentations/summaries which appropriately address the intended audience.
  • Design, architect and code critical capabilities in an active Agile environment.
  • Work in a highly collaborate team environment to design, architect and innovate software solutions.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience developing software with agile methodology in a team-based environment.
  • Experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in software architecture, development, test, and/or integration using C, C++ or Ada.
  • Experience using debugging tools to quickly identify and fix software bugs, as well as optimize code for performance.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Exposure to radar software development and/or radar concepts.
  • Proven experience with current Missile defense programs with specific experience in large, complex systems.
  • Experience working in Agile environments such as scrum, scrum at scale, SAFe and DevSecOps.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.
  • Ability to coach and delegate work to lower-level professionals.
  • Experience contributing to a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Experience with tools such as Atlassian Suite (e.g., Bitbucket/Artifactory, Confluence, Crucible, Fisheye, Jira), Jenkins, Eclipse, and Ansible.
  • Experience working in a continuous integration/continuous development environment; experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Redhat and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Strong skills using debugging tools to quickly identify and fix software bugs, as well as optimize code for performance.
