About The Position

Are you ready to shape the future of Atlassian’s encryption services? The Encryption department is seeking a Senior Principal Architect or Engineer (P70) to spearhead the architecture of our next-generation encryption services. Your work will define the foundation for secure, scalable, and flexible encryption services used by millions. You will have the opportunity to work alongside some of Atlassian’s top technical leaders and present at industry events. This role offers the chance to influence the technical roadmap and mentor the next generation of engineering talent.

Requirements

• 14+ years of experience designing and building enterprise-grade solutions using microservices (Java, Kotlin, C++, Golang, etc.).
• Proven track record in large-scale web software and transformational architecture projects.
• Experience with Kubernetes-native architectures and cloud-agnostic design patterns.
• Ability to provide clarity and direction in ambiguous environments, and drive long-term product planning.
• Strong leadership in cross-team technical initiatives and mentoring senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture for cloud-agnostic and self-hosted storage and search infrastructure in the encryption space.
• Design and build Kubernetes-native services that meet the evolving needs of Atlassian’s cloud and on-prem customers.
• Drive technical direction for a critical pillar, collaborating with senior engineers and stakeholders across the company.
• Mentor and influence engineering teams, setting standards for security, scalability, and operational excellence.
