As a Senior Primary Substation Engineer in our Grid & Power Quality Solutions (GPQS) team, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, working with Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) to optimize grid performance and stability. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience in mechanical/electrical engineering
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, ANSI/IEEE standards
  • Experience with FACTS or HV substations
  • Proficiency in Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Skilled in electro-mechanical calculations and plant design
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for high-voltage transmission substation projects
  • Develop station layouts, grounding plans, and lightning protection systems
  • Perform mechanical calculations for structural steel, illumination, and magnetic fields
  • Create and manage 3D models using Revit and BIM tools
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, and system engineering teams
  • Review vendor drawings and ensure alignment with project specs
  • Support testing, installation, and commissioning activities
  • Engage directly with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines
