About The Position

As a Senior Power Systems Engineer at Qualus, you will be responsible for conducting power system studies across various sectors including commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and generation facilities. This role involves performing analyses such as short circuit studies, overcurrent coordination, arc flash assessments, and load flow evaluations. You will leverage your strong communication and project management skills to present findings and recommend cost-effective solutions to both internal and external clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related from an ABET accredited school
• 5 or more years of experience performing power system studies and associated data collection activities for industrial customers
• Experience with SKM
• Ability to work independently, accurately, and with high attention to detail
• Strong communication skills to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers
• Strong computer skills

Responsibilities

• Perform Short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies for various facilities using SKM, ETAP, and/or Easypower software
• Apply knowledge of low and medium voltage switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, panel boards, and disconnects to determine cost-effective mitigation solutions
• Develop study reports and communicate results and recommendations to customers
• Perform data collection activities
• Develop and/or implement arc flash mitigation designs
• Interpret new construction drawing packages
• Develop relay protective setpoints and settings files
• Develop and/or update equipment control schematics, one lines, three lines, and wiring diagrams
• Successfully execute small to medium sized projects with limited oversight
• Self-manage assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates
• Effectively communicate with other departments and customers to assure activities are properly coordinated
