About The Position

Essential Functions / Responsibilities: Lead and manage the strategical development of the Next Generation of Medium Voltage Drives in collaboration with GE Vernova Power Conversion Center of Excellence in France. Lead and manage any strategical New Product Integration and New Technology Integration projects. Ensure that all designs and practices implement and foster a culture of safety, quality and value. Prepare and review detailed technical specifications for the control of large industry, marine and naval power converters that capture customer requirements. Develop, Define and Deliver the base software package (software with list of libraries/system versions, test reports) for use in typical project configuration using P80i. Maintain ownership of all engineering artifacts associated with specific power converters on projects. Complete the HMI/Control/Process coding using P80i and GE QuickPanel. Develop the Test Plan in accordance with the Basic Requirements and the electrical power plant. Understand and use the offline and real time models of the overall electrical power electronics plant, propose and implement model improvements. Set up the HIL platform Configure, Parameter and Test in Hardware In the Loop the project software. Ensure projects are completed within schedule and budget. Interface with customers to ensure requirements and expectations are understood and achievable. Manage software design process for power converters for specific projects. Interface with the Manufacturing and Test departments to ensure the power converters controls are fit for purpose. Interface with Sourcing and Purchasing to ensure suppliers products are meeting specifications. Support sales by reviewing new customer requirements and highlighting differences and gaps between those requirements and power converter control capabilities. Simulate and design an overall Power Electronics system for Industrial application such as Marine Propulsion, Oil and Gas, Metals rolling mills, and Power generation applications. Specify electrical components (Cables, Filters, Inductors, Capacitors, Transformers, Converters) of the overall electrical power plant. Write all project artifacts including Hardware and commissioning instructions. Design new Voltage Source Inverter (IGBT or Sic) and new Thyristor converter (Rectifier LCI). Support the Drive Test and Validation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering or related.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in power electronics engineering. Pre- or post- Master’s degree experience is acceptable. Experience must be post-Bachelor’s degree.
  • Seven (7) years of experience using IGBT semiconductor devices for Industrial Application
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Medium Voltage Converter Design
  • Five (5) years of experience with P80i programming
  • Three (3) years of experience with Commissioning of Medium Voltage Converters
  • One (1) year of experience in standard and advanced MMC converter topologies
  • Approximately 10% domestic and 30% international travel required to France to visit international customers for next generation of medium voltage product.
