About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Senior Power Electrical Engineer - Medium & Low Voltage Distribution to be based in Orange, CA . The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following: Responsible for electrical engineering work in power distribution design. Working with Project Engineers and Project Managers on developing workload forecasts, design schedules, and budgets for electrical engineering work activities. Functioning as the “Engineer of Record” on projects. Performing Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis). Providing technical support for business development activities such as developing proposals. Single line diagram development, medium voltage switch gear and low voltage switchboard design and specifications. Determine ampacity and develop Feeder and Cable Schedules. Substation and transformer design and specification. Protective relay and metering one line / three-line diagrams. Panel Schedules. Equipment layouts and sectional views. Connection Diagrams. Bill of Materials. Developing construction and equipment specifications. Supporting projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning. Grounding layouts. Lightening protection. Reviewing engineering work performed by peers. Attending client meetings. Client and site field visits. Conducting arc-flash hazard calculations to determine arc-flash boundaries and required PPE.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Due to the nature of our contracts US Citizenship is required for this role

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years of Electrical Distribution and Facility Electrical System engineering experience
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • Able to participate in field walks and create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders, etc. as necessary
  • Experience working and collaborating with a team of electrical engineers
  • Very familiar with industry and federal codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, IEEE, UFC, etc).
  • Experienced preparing drawings, specifications, and calculations involving medium voltage site distribution and facility designs
  • Performed detailed QA/QC engineering deliverable reviews
  • High preference for candidates with extensive design experience on medium voltage and low voltage distribution systems (for outdoor and indoor installations)
  • High preference for candidates with experience in conducting power system analysis using software such as SKM Power Tools for Window and ETAP
  • High preference for candidates with experience in underground electrical distribution
  • High preference for candidates with experience with outdoor and indoor lighting design and photometric calculations using software such as Visual and AGI
  • High preference for candidates with experience and ability in interfacing with clients and code enforcing agencies
  • High preference for candidates that have excellent writing and oral communication skills including report writing and presentations
  • High preference for candidates with writing and editing technical specifications for power and lighting design
  • High preference for candidates with leading electrical design and supervising design teams including other electrical engineers, designers and drafting personnel
