About The Position

The C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP) at Stony Brook University anticipates filling one or more postdoctoral research appointments in theoretical physics, with anticipated appointment dates of September 1, 2026. Research fields currently represented at the YITP include, but are not limited to, particle theory, cosmology, quantum field theory, string theory, condensed matter, statistical mechanics, and quantum information theory. The Institute has a tradition of collaboration with the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and of Mathematics and the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook and with Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Requirements

• Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree or foreign equivalent in theoretical physics or a closely related field.
• A record of three years of independent research experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in the field of the researcher's choice in theoretical physics.
• Collaborate with senior members of the YITP working in the same field as well as in other educational institutes.
• Present seminars based on the Sr. Postdoctoral Associate's work during the academic year.
• Occasional travel to present research results or collaborate on institute-sponsored research.
• Other duties as needed.
