About The Position

We’re looking for a Senior Portfolio Analyst to join our Target Date team at Principal Asset Management. In this role, you’ll be responsible for research and development initiatives to improve the construction of target date portfolios! Develop and implement multi-asset investment strategies for target date portfolios in line with company objectives and client needs Analyze market trends, investor behaviors, and economic developments to incorporate into target date portfolios Provide research insights and recommendations to the portfolio management team, as well as communicate complex investment concepts and strategies to clients and stakeholders Collaborate with other departments, such as recordkeeping and product development, to identify opportunities for strategy enhancements Continuously evaluate and improve investment processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness Stay informed on competitors' strategies and performance to inform our own investment decisions Principal Asset Management is the global investment solutions business for Principal Financial Group® (Nasdaq: PFG), managing about $580 billion in assets and over 60 years of experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree with an emphasis in finance, economics, accounting, or a technical field
  • 8+ years of asset class modeling and multi-asset class portfolio construction
  • General knowledge of investment vehicles, economic and investment theories, the investment environment, retirement investing, and and understanding of Principal Asset Management's network of specialized investment groups and affiliate product offerings
  • A proven track record of strong analytical and research skills as it relates to retirement investing concepts and strategies

Nice To Haves

  • CFA designation
  • Knowledge of Target Date Funds and glide path construction
  • Experience with Morningstar, Bloomberg, FactSet, Barra and performance attribution/risk decomposition tools
  • Financial modeling experience that includes Excel, Python, or other coding tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively research, compile and analyze information
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently in a non-structured environment, and drive results
