About The Position
An award-winning mechanical contractor is seeking to add experienced Estimators to their team in Oakland, California. The Senior Plumbing Estimator will play a crucial role in analyzing each project before it starts and accurately estimating costs related to labor, materials, equipment, and other relevant areas. This position requires a deep understanding of the construction process, particularly in plumbing and mechanical systems, to ensure that all estimates are thorough and accurate. The estimator will be responsible for reviewing and comprehending technical and administrative documents such as Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotes (RFQs). In addition to analyzing project requirements, the Senior Plumbing Estimator will determine the list of material takeoffs to define quantities of work materials and establish work crews and production rates for the performance of required tasks. Breaking down the scope of work into definable tasks is essential, as is assisting in the development of bids, scope documents, and proposals. The estimator will also be tasked with developing pricing changes to existing projects and updating current pricing and labor within estimating software on a regular basis. Building and maintaining relationships with subcontractors and suppliers is vital for this role, as the estimator must develop a trust and level of respect to ensure the best numbers on bid day. Proficiency in computerized takeoff programs, including Quote Express, as well as manual entry, digitizer, and on-screen takeoff methods, is required to succeed in this position.
