The Senior Platform Systems Engineer will be part of Microsoft's Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team, which is responsible for delivering the core infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud services. This role focuses on collaborating with various teams to develop and optimize hardware solutions for AI, compute, storage, and networking, ensuring high quality and efficiency in the deployment of new offerings. The engineer will lead debugging efforts, manage platform bring-up processes, and drive technical requirements to influence product architecture and performance.

  • Collaborate with architecture, silicon engineering, firmware, hardware design, hardware validation, OS, manufacturing, and customer teams to build state-of-the-art hardware solutions.
  • Lead Platforms Debug Forums to address issues encountered during the Product Development Phase.
  • Plan and lead System debug activities.
  • Work with cross-organization teams in defining pre-Silicon platform bring up, test, and validation execution.
  • Own and drive the platform bring up with SOC, test and validation plans & execution.
  • Perform NUDD technology and feature analysis and provide risk assessment and mitigations.
  • Perform hands-on debugging of critical platform-level issues.
  • Develop innovative debugging methodologies for the triage and resolution of issues in remote data centers.
  • Drive technical requirements and ensure the solution is flexible and scalable across the full stack.
  • Enable platform and solution level discussions, influencing architecture of the product, and delivering to product goals across quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal, external, and open-source partners to onboard innovative technologies.
  • 7+ years of technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in system level design and/or implementation across the hardware development lifecycle.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Experience with hardware, firmware, management firmware, and/or software interfaces across all modules in a system.
  • Experience leading validation strategies and debugging complex hardware technologies.
  • Experience assessing technical risks, driving solutions, and impact assessment.
  • Proven track record of bringing up, integrating, and deploying new hardware technology.
