About The Position

Markon is seeking a Platform Engineer to support an Intelligence Customer's technical development program on a secure network. This role provides hands-on systems and platform engineering support to design, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, and resilient platform services used by software development teams operating in cloud environments. The Platform Engineer works closely with developers, cybersecurity engineers, database administrators, and system architects to modernize infrastructure, transition from legacy systems, and support mission execution.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with cloud service providers, AWS required
  • Hands-on experience administering Linux-based systems
  • Proven experience performing Platform Engineering functions in complex environments
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience supporting security remediation and compliance efforts
  • Experience working with cross-functional technical teams in enterprise environments

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstratable working experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Packer
  • Demonstratable working experience with containers (Docker, Podman) and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
  • Experience maintaining and administering ELK environments, particularly in containerized deployments
  • Demonstratable working experience with serverless technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda)
  • Experience supporting security accreditation and authorization (A&A) processes
  • Experience working in Agile, SAFe, or Scrum development environments

Responsibilities

  • Deliver innovative platform capabilities, services, or integrated solutions that address specific customer mission requirements
  • Support the development and operation of enterprise software solutions within the Sponsor’s cloud environments
  • Provide execution guidance and hands-on engineering support to mission teams throughout the system lifecycle
  • Administer and maintain Linux-based systems to support the transition from legacy systems to modern deployment architectures
  • Perform routine maintenance of cloud infrastructure resources, including patching, configuration, upgrades, and optimization
  • Partner with cybersecurity engineers to identify, remediate, and mitigate findings from system security scans
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Software Development, Systems Engineering, Security Compliance, and Quality Assurance
  • Support platform reliability, scalability, and resiliency through automation and infrastructure best practices
