Senior Platform Engineer
About The Position
Markon is seeking a Platform Engineer to support a technical development program for an Intelligence Customer. The Platform Engineer will design, develop, and implement reliable, robust, and resilient platform solutions that enable software development teams to deliver mission-critical capabilities. This role requires significant hands-on systems engineering experience and close collaboration with a large, multidisciplinary team including developers, software engineers, cybersecurity engineers, database administrators, and system architects. This role requires demonstrated experience with automation, containers, Kubernetes, or serverless technologies is strongly preferred.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience working with cloud service providers, AWS required
- Proven experience performing Platform Engineering functions in enterprise environments
- Demonstratable working experience with containers (Docker/Podman) and/or container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes)
- Strong hands-on systems engineering experience
- Experience performing routine cloud infrastructure maintenance, including patching, configuration, and upgrades
- Experience working with security engineers to remediate findings from system security scans
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Demonstratable working experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Packer
- Demonstratable working experience with serverless platforms (e.g., AWS Lambda)
- Experience supporting security accreditation and authorization processes
- Experience working in Agile, SAFe, or Scrum development environments
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement platform services that support enterprise software development and mission operations
- Deliver innovative platform products, services, or integrated solutions that address specific customer mission requirements
- Support the development, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise software solutions within the customer’s cloud environments
- Provide execution guidance and hands-on engineering support to mission teams throughout the development and deployment lifecycle
- Administer and maintain cloud infrastructure resources, including system configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance optimization
- Support platform reliability, scalability, and resiliency through the application of engineering best practices
- Collaborate with cybersecurity engineers to identify, remediate, and mitigate findings resulting from system security scans and assessments
- Support platform operations by troubleshooting system issues and assisting with root cause analysis
- Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional project teams including Software Development, Systems Engineering, Security Compliance, and Quality Assurance
- Contribute to platform documentation, configuration management, and operational best practices
