Senior Platform Engineer Do you love building and pioneering in the technology space? We are seeking Platform Engineers who are passionate about creating and supporting DevOps tools with emerging technologies to join our team. As a Platform Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. While the majority of the work would be in person there will be times where remote support is required. The ideal candidate would have experience providing support in a high demanding environment where quick problem resolution is critical. Have the ability to work with users at all levels and build positive relationships. What You’ll Do: Coordinate and or assist with lateral and horizontal groups. (eg. Networking, storage, proxy, etc.) Update on status to manager and users through calls, IM, email and in-person communication. Identify and troubleshoot software and hardware failures and determine network problems. Diagnose and resolve incidents using and documenting procedures. Diagnose and resolve unique, nonrecurring problems associated with applications, software and operating systems; determine the source of problems and classify their level, priority and nature. Develop workaround for application issues if incident root cause cannot be determined and continue to investigate for root cause. Troubleshoot through phone, hardware and software and help users engage technical resources to resolve (Help Desk). Determine and research user questions. Isolate and resolve information systems problems. Provide assistance with escalation of applications and resources outside of our control. Participate in hardware and software reviews and recommend purchases. Maintain inventory of installed software, manage software licensing and create policies and procedures for upgrades. Train end users on usage of computer hardware, software correct escalation procedures. Develop and manage effective professional working relationships with co-workers and users. Adhere to policies as per corporate manuals and directives and ensure the end users are doing the same. Work flexible hours at planned times and occasionally ad-hoc; this role is likely to require occasional evening/weekend work or the possibility of on call operation. Handle equipment deliveries Log work in appropriate systems The person for this position must be able to work independently and manage their own workload. This position falls under Capital One Commercial Banking - Capital Markets line of business. The position reports into the Capital Markets Systems Team

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 2 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)
  • At least 2 years of experience with AWS
  • At least 2 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience
  • At least 2 years of experience with scripting (Python, SQL, JavaScript, Bash or Ruby)
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS
  • 2+ years of experience with container orchestration services (Docker or ECS)
  • 2+ years of experience in Javens
  • 3+ years of experience with scripting (Python, SQL, JavaScript, Bash or Ruby)
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
