About The Position

Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with well-rounded Linux Infrastructure Engineering expertise to join a multi-discipline team of engineers in accomplishment of O&M tasks at a customer site near Dulles, Virginia. The Ideal candidate will have experience in managing and maintaining fundamental hardware and software components that form the foundation of operational support to ensure the reliability, scalability and security. The Senior Platform Engineer would be involved with supporting Echelon 1 (E1) actives to maintain and troubleshoot software, physical servers, networking, storage and cloud environments to ensure system operates efficiently; and meet mission needs. The Senior Platform Engineer will support deployment of O&M patches and baseline updates; enterprise level integration efforts; document defects in customer and program defect databases; support technical interchange meetings with system operators, enterprise partners, and program customer. Note This position is based in Dulles VA and will be supporting a nearby customer location within a Secure Compartmented Integration Facility (SCIF) and may require some travel (10% or less) to other customer sites for support and possible on call support/overtime.

Requirements

  • Typically requires BS/BA Degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Physics and a minimum 5 years of related work experience
  • Experience with VMware: vCenter and ESXi
  • Experience with Linux system administration (RHEL/OL preferred)
  • Experience with LDAP administration (e.g. creating and managing users and groups)
  • Current TS/SCI / CI Poly issued security clearance is required day 1. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Experience with Bash scripting
  • Experience with hardware maintenance (e.g. troubleshooting, FRU replacement)
  • Experience with out-of-band management (e.g. iDRAC, terminal server concentrators)
  • Experience with Dell and Cisco hardware

Responsibilities

  • Maintain existing systems through Linux-based tools and manage the COTS/FOSS software on the system to support program needs
  • Ensure that all computer, network, and storage resources are maintained for mission use
  • Participate in the deployment of new system baselines (e.g. operating systems, software, network configurations, and data storage configurations)
  • Travel to other customer sites or to the factory as needed to assist in system updates, deliveries, and troubleshooting activities when necessary
  • Be part of a call-in rotation to provide occasional off-hours support
