About the position

The Senior Plant Performance & Project Engineer will improve site performance and reduce site manufacturing costs by interfacing with Operations, Technology, other IP engineers and Business Partners to complete projects on time and within budget. This role involves driving optimization and improvement of the site by providing broad and in-depth technological expertise for current processes and to guide and safeguard all design and engineering aspects of projects in a QESH compliant way.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews project scopes assigned to him/her from the IP work process, and interfaces with Customers (plant management and other stakeholders) to ensure completeness and acceptance for SP/ LCP Project execution.
  • Management of small and selected (< 5 M$) large capital projects as per Manufex Work Processes to ensure that these are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Responsible to ensure that a phased (in alignment with engineering process steps) consideration and assessment of the various SHE and Quality aspects is executed during design, construction, and commissioning for capital projects that he/she leads.
  • Contribute to contractor selection by preparing design documents and bid documents and reviewing bid proposals.
  • Manages the commissioning and startup of projects, including validation, operating requirements, safety inspection and staff training.
  • Ensures timely reporting (typically monthly) on projects, and ensures up to date project files incl. Trackwise.
  • Ensures financial planning of the project is adequately planned and reported.
  • Evaluate the project and report results and recommendations for improvement of the execution of future projects.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in an Engineering Discipline.
  • Minimum 5 yrs. of Manufacturing experience in Plant, Improve Plant or other Engineering Environment.
  • (Engineering) Project management.
  • SHE: In depth knowledge and hands on experience on relevant DSM SHE requirements, knowledge of applicable site-specific safety aspects (e.g. dust explosions, PSM area) and knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Quality: Knowledge of ICH Q7A (specifically Validation) and cGMPs. Understanding of Quality risk assessments necessary to ensure Quality is built into design.
  • Manufex: Thorough understanding of Small Projects Work Process and related tools and practices. LCP work process in case LCP’s are assigned. Knowledge and understanding of IP work process.
  • Knowledge in SAP and SRM to control project cost and track spending.
  • Good understanding and application Project Management.
  • Understanding of Financial and Purchasing Processes and Requirements in relation to Capital Project Management.
