About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Service Control Engineer to join our Solar and Storage Solutions engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the control systems, automation, and instrumentation of our assets, ensuring that plant control systems operate efficiently, securely, and reliably. You will develop, implement, and optimize control strategies for plant operations while actively participating in Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) to identify underlying issues affecting control systems performance. Your contributions to Change-Modification-Upgrades (CMUs) will enhance the performance and functionality of our systems, ensuring they meet evolving technological demands and operational challenges. This position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in an international environment, allowing you to influence projects that impact our global operations. Your expertise will be crucial in managing AC and DC control systems, maintaining control interfaces, and SCADA systems, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. By leveraging your knowledge and experience, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our Solar and Storage Solutions, making a significant contribution to the renewable energy landscape. Power Conversion and Storage business works closely with end users in energy-intense industrial applications. We focus on offering integrated electrical systems. A strategy aligned to three major macro trends: Power Stability, Energy Storage and Industrial Electrification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with software & controls with high-level software languages.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of or familiarity with GE’s MarkVIe product family and of GE’s Cimplicity software (SCADA) , ToolBox ST & WorkStation ST.
  • In-depth knowledge of battery systems and solar inverters, demonstrating a strong understanding of their operation and integration within plant control systems.
  • Proven experience in the solar business, with a solid background in renewable energy projects and operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues effectively.
  • Demonstrated implementation of controls or systems integration in products and field engineering experience
  • Knowledge of communication networks (NW switch, Router, Firewall, copper, FO) and their design, Software and Hardware.
  • Familiarity with standard industrial protocols such as OPC-UA, EGD, IEC and Modbus
  • Knowledge of power conversion systems and controls.
  • Demonstrated expertise in energy storage controls, validation and verification, formal methods, systems integration, advanced controls or related technologies.
  • Technical project leadership experience
  • A proactive approach to learning and staying updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in plant control systems.
  • Can present technical plans in voice of customer.

Responsibilities

  • Engage closely with internal and external customers to gather requirements and drinication.
  • Develop, enhance, and administer training materials for the control system to support user proficiency.
  • Drive performance and reliability enhancements back to the product, continuously seeking improvements in system effectiveness.
  • Support problem identification and resolution for both new and installed products, troubleshooting and resolving escalated control system issues.
  • Mentor and develop the skills of less experienced engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize control strategies for plant operations, ensuring alignment with industry standards for plant control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated system performance and lead projects focused on control system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Provide recommendations for plant automation and digitalization strategies, guiding the resolution of instrumentation challenges and calibrations.
  • Stay updated with the latest control system technologies and industry trends, engaging in regular reviews and audits of plant control system performance and security.
  • Lead the validation and installation of all control systems, including upgrades of third-party software to fielded assets, while supporting on-site start-up and integration of system controls.
