About The Position

The Senior Plant Accountant plays a key role in supporting the plant’s financial operations, including month end close, annual audits, inventory management, and corporate & management reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills and sound judgment. They are proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across teams in a collaborative and dynamic environment. This position partners closely with manufacturing operations and corporate finance. The role is based on site at the Louisville manufacturing facility and reports directly to the Plant Controller.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred; an associate degree may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands on accounting experience in a decentralized manufacturing environment.
  • Strong month end close experience required.
  • General ledger software experience highly preferred (AS400 or similar; System 21 (Infor) a plus).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and sound judgment.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs safely

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a publicly traded company and familiarity with internal control frameworks preferred.
  • Experience with standard costing manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Plant Controller with corporate and management reporting on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Support month-end close activities, including preparation of standard and non-standard journal entries.
  • Monitor, maintain, and reconcile all inventory related accounting transactions. This includes performing general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Provide reporting and analysis related to inventory adjustments, cycle counts, and movement transactions.
  • Lead the physical inventory process, in coordination with the plant manager, including valuation and reconciliation.
  • Calculate and prepare quarterly Excess & Obsolete (E&O) inventory analysis.
  • Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities for financial and production processes.
  • Assist Plant Controller in preparing the plant’s annual budget.
  • Support annual internal and external audits.
  • Provide backup support for other accounting team members as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to company accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
