About The Position

The Senior Planner position within the Community Development Department is responsible for leading a team of planners in long-range planning initiatives. This role involves overseeing complex planning projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, and representing the City in various public and official meetings. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in planning, architecture, engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with environmental compliance (CEQA/NEPA) and development regulations.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Familiarity with statistical concepts and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, assigns, coordinates, supervises, and reviews the work of professional planning staff.
  • Compiles and evaluates data and makes recommendations for complex planning projects.
  • Manages environmental investigations and oversight of budgets.
  • Represents the City in public and official meetings on planning matters.
  • Serves on interdepartmental committees related to land use issues.
  • Prepares and presents staff reports for the Planning Commission and City Council.
  • Interprets and applies applicable regulations, codes, and policies.
