About The Position
Senior Planner requires advanced professional planning experience of high complexity and variety in the field of city planning. This position is responsible for the relatively independent performance of planning functions or projects requiring various combinations of skill in research, analysis, development, presentation or interpretation of concepts and data pertaining to planning and implementation of plans. The Senior Planner position presents reports and other findings to staff, Allentown Planning Commission, and the community. Work is performed according to general instructions with considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment on assigned major projects. Some functions are similar to those of the Planner level, though the Senior Planner is involved with larger, more complex planning assignments. Planners at this level exercise greater independence and judgment, receiving general supervision from the Planning Director. Specific work assignments will be tailored to the skills and expertise of the selected candidate, while also considering the collective skill set of our team of planners.
