About The Position

The Senior Planner Schedule Planning supports the Flight Operations department with the goal of maximizing pilot efficiency, minimizing pilot costs, and ensuring a reliable operation through effective communication and planning. The position coordinates the monthly trip construction process via pairing-build optimization software and works to improve each output with feedback from internal and external stakeholders. Analyzes flight segments and utilizes optimization software to build crew pairings that maximize pilot utilization while supporting operational reliability and maintaining an eye on efficiency. Identifies opportunities to improve pairing solutions through collaboration with Network Planning, Crew Scheduling, Fatigue Management, Flight Training, Finance, and other partner groups to create a sustainable plan. Analyzes flying distribution by considering the quantity of pilots available in each base that aligns with the Network Planning designed schedule period and pilots available in our workforce plan. Creates monthly, quarterly, or annual presentations on analytical findings and summarizes complex concepts into visualizations for leadership that review performance metrics and identify future pairing solution improvement opportunities. Utilizes Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and/or other software to identify trends in on-time performance, block analysis support, and labor costs associated with pairing contractual rules to review trends and support future decisions. Analyzes long range schedule plans and supports recommendations on staffing requirements in partnership with Vacancy and Strategy teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience in Aviation/Aeronautics, Finance, Supply Chain, Statistics, Operations Research, Business, Logistics/Transportation or related field.
  • 3+ years experience in a related role.
  • Excel capabilities, data analysis, and modeling skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation development skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and self-motivation to understand data and root causes.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Workforce Planning, Crew Planning, Network Planning, or Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • Familiarity with Jeppesen optimization software.
  • Familiarity with FAR 117 rules.
