About The Position

Campus planning provides long-term direction and goals for the university's physical and built environment. Ensuring the highest and best use of land and space to meet the university's academic, research, and strategic initiatives. This includes architectural planning services for relocations, reorganizations, renovations, and capital construction projects. Campus planning covers all aspects of the built environment and the network of systems that link these elements in support of the campus community, including buildings, open space, transportation, and accessibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Urban Planning or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
  • Three (3) years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake advanced professional work related to various planning assignments, including space and site planning, development of functional and programmatic requirements for projects, feasibility studies, and developing project solutions and alternatives.
  • Evaluate projects for alignment with university's strategic mission and priorities.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on project needs, industry trends, and relevant planning benchmarks.
  • Compile relevant data, organize, and evaluate to support project recommendations and determine planning priorities.
  • Facilitate client engagement meetings, workshops, and informational presentations within the campus community.
  • Develop programming documents, space needs, project narratives, estimates, and schedules.
  • Monitor projects in development for compliance with programmatic requirements and planning principles.
  • Prepare capital budgets, technical reports, planning studies, and related documents.
  • Communicate reports and findings in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Serve as a liaison between consultants, clients, campus stakeholders, and campus leadership.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, university departments, external stakeholders, and personnel. Coordinate internal approvals from pertinent parties, as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with staff from other units such as project management, construction management, engineering, interior design, space management, and real estate.
  • Develop planning processes, standards, guidelines, and deliverables.
  • Conduct quality control assessments and post-occupancy evaluations.
  • Mentor junior planners, offering guidance and sharing expertise.
  • Serve as a career planner.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
