About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Planner Estimator for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Under the guidance and direction of the Assistant Director of Design in the Office of Architecture and Design, this professional is responsible for assisting in managing all sizes and various types of planning and design of special projects, grant applications, and feasibility studies. Among the key duties of this position are the following: This position has statewide responsibilities and therefore addresses a wide variety of academic, administrative, research, healthcare, and infrastructure projects. The Senior Design Planner Estimator will take an active role to assist the Assistant Director of Design in engaging and managing both internal resources and external consultants to undertake projects. Assist in the coordination and management efforts of University staff and/or external architects and engineers for planning and design efforts of all types and sizes of capital (over $5 million project costs) and non-capital (below $5 million project costs). Interact with other departments of the Division of Institutional Planning and Operations and support service departments of the University as required to assist the Assistant Director of Design with the successful completion of grant applications, feasibility studies, and vision documents. Applies signature and NJ Registered Architect seal or NJ Professional Engineer seal to design and construction documents when required. Working under the Assistant Director of Design and the Assistant University Architect (within in Planning, Development, and Design), maintains project lists and assignments, participates in project coordination meetings, develops scopes of work reflective of end user needs, and assists with procurement and contracting process for architects and engineers. Manages time and plans efforts as required to successfully assist in executing multiple projects simultaneously, with limited administrative support from other staff. Performs other duties as required by departmental and division needs, as assigned by the Assistant Director of Design and the Assistant University Architect. Overview The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
