About The Position

The Senior Piping Specification Engineer at Bechtel Corporation is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and reviewing plant design and piping work requirements. This role ensures compliance with configuration and procurement requirements while resolving complex issues related to piping and valve specifications. The position is part of the Knoxville Execution Center, which provides engineering services for government and commercial nuclear projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in engineering and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience for Level 1.
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in engineering and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience for Level 2.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • PE Registration (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of standard piping codes such as ASME B31.1, B31.3, IPC, etc.
  • Prior experience developing piping material class sheets & technical specifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Smart Reference Data (SRD) in creation of Piping Specifications (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and execution of material requisitions for bulk pipe, valves and supports, and other piping components.
  • Preparation of pipe and piping component related calculations, including minimum pipe wall thickness calculations and material evaluations to ASME B31.1, B31.3, and other codes & standards.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and maintain piping and valve technical specifications, piping material class sheets/specifications, and/or material requisitions, bid evaluations, and award recommendations.
  • Perform detailed supplier bid technical evaluations and supplier document reviews, including reviewing Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID) for piping material applicability.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain function (Buyers, Expeditors, etc.) and various suppliers regarding technical requirements of purchase orders, including disposition of supplier deviation requests and Request for Information (RFIs).
  • Disposition of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and Field Change Documents (FCDs) generated by Construction.
