About The Position

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel's scope of service in Sentinel's current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program. A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. We use our expertise to help our customers securely and effectively transform mission delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience for Grade 25.
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience for Grade 26.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • IT certification or PE registration preferred.
  • Previous Bechtel and/or DOD/DOE project experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of dynamic analysis and ASME B31.3 or B31.1 Codes.
  • Prior experience using pipe stress analysis program Bentley AutoPipe.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pipe stress analysis using AutoPipe.
  • Coordinate with Pipe Support Engineers and Layout personnel as required.
  • Model piping systems to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.
  • Work closely with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Participate in reviews and recommend approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements.
  • Analyze problems with conflicting design requirements and sketch ideas and possible solutions.
  • Analyze and report on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and/or difficult coordination requirements.
  • Coordinate plant design engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
