The Rehabilitation Medicine Department at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is one of the largest in the nation. With more than 50 years of experience, we have assembled a team of professionals that is unparalleled in experience and expertise throughout various clinical areas, helping to lead the way in advancing care to our patients. In addition to the duties and responsibilities of an outpatient physical therapist, the Senior Physical Therapist will lead our thriving pelvic health program. We work with people of all genders and backgrounds. The Senior therapist serves as a clinical resource and mentor to staff, assists in staff orientation, clinical skills development and identifies and develops clinically oriented as well as service excellence initiatives. The successful candidate must have advanced clinical skills and knowledge in the physical therapy assessment and treatment of various pelvic health diagnoses including pelvic pain, incontinence, pre and post-partum issues and post-surgical protocols. In addition, strong knowledge of physical therapy for the spine is necessary. Strong customer service and empathetic communication is necessary. This is a Monday-Friday 8:30 am- 4:30 pm schedule with an intermittent weekend and holiday requirement on our acute care or inpatient rehabilitation unit.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience as practicing physical therapist
  • Experience treating common spine conditions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy
  • New York State Physical Therapy License
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a physical therapist
  • Prior experience working with pelvic health patients
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills
  • Exemplary professionalism, teamwork and flexibility
  • Some experience working in either the acute care or inpatient rehab setting
