Under minimal supervision, the Physical Security Sr Specialist is responsible for the oversight of daily physical security operations in support of company security policies and practices impacting the protection of assets, data and employees of Discount Tire. Supervises and audits activities and functions of a 24/7 Security Operations Center including a contract security force with a security concierge mindset and focus . Manages the operation and maintenance of various security systems in multiple locations in conformance with industry best practices. Develops and updates effective procedural documentation and standard operating procedures for the security force. Assists in developing and implementing standards, guidelines and procedures related to personnel, facilities, and physical data security. This position reports directly to the Physical Security Sr Manager.

Requirements

  • This position requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in security management, law enforcement, or similar role for a multi-site, multi-state organization.
  • Previous experience supervising a Security Operations Center; including but not limited to, developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, 24-hour multi-location alarm and emergency system monitoring, and coordinating appropriate security response capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and development of contracted security officers.
  • Proven experience in working with networked access control and security cameras systems is required and essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing emergency response procedures and training personnel on emergency response protocols.
  • Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office tools is necessary.
  • Proven experience communicating and coordinating activities across business units is required .
  • Ability to identify complex problems, review information to develop and evaluate options then implement solutions.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, while making timely and sound decisions.
  • Proven ability to motivate self and others.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate ideas and concepts both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with knowledge and understanding of business issues, priorities, goals and strategy is necessary.

  • Ability to deal with highly sensitive data and situations requiring the utmost in confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Demonstration of sound judgment, consistent use of discretion and outstanding decision-making skills are imperative.
  • Ability to obtain an Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications or the ability to obtain them within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Proficient with firearms and knowledgeable in the areas of use of force continuum principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree with emphasis in business/management/criminal justice is preferred or equivalent experience in a corporate setting covering areas of corporate security, physical security technology systems and emergency response coordination .
  • Designation as an ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), or Physical Security Professional (PSP) or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel and Office 365.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the effective performance of the 24/7 Security Operation Center.
  • Trains the contract security team on operation of card access and security monitoring systems and related security technology.
  • Recommends requirements and validates contract security officer activity to ensure all functions and performance levels are within industry standards.
  • Reviews reported security incidents from Corporate and Store locations, evaluates urgency and risk to Our People and the Company, and recommends appropriate actions in consultation with the Physical Security Sr Manager.
  • Oversees the operation of installed security systems, reviews system performance and performs diagnosis for root cause performance issues.
  • Facilitates the repair and maintenance of physical security devices to include, cameras, alarms and access system devices.
  • Generates comprehensive access control reports in support of management and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure effective security measures are in place for special events and functions.
  • Manages the corporate master lock and key system.
  • Evaluates and proposes new technology in support of security strategic objectives and best practices.
  • Collaborates with external vendors on physical security issues.
  • Ensures site specific security procedures and emergency plans are documented, implemented and tested on a regular schedule, to include working with various employee groups in multiple buildings.
  • Assists with the onsite direction of activities during emergency situations by coordinating the emergency response teams, monitoring emergency activities and supervising response personnel.
  • Maintains accurate reports and logs for future reference in support of confidential matters and possible litigation .
  • Keeps abreast of company policies and procedures in addition to local, state and federal laws to ensure compliance.
  • Assists in coordinating with the Physical Security Sr Manager and law enforcement on assessments of threats and in determining appropriate response .
  • Assesses company physical locations to identify physical security risk and recommends mitigation to minimize the risks.
  • Travel may be required to visit Discount Tire field locations and assess firsthand their security condition up to 10% of the time.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all security related incidents requiring a response; must have 24-hour accessibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
