A Senior Phlebotomist is responsible for clinical laboratory duties, including: All Sites: Reception and Telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling: receiving and processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned. If assigned to a site where offered: Dispatch functions, EKG performance, collection of DOT and non-DOT drug screens, for cause drug screens (HR), and Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT); clinic relief fill-in. Communication Requirements: respectful and patient communications (written and verbal) with patients, clients, other lab staff, and caregivers from other departments.
