About The Position

Senior Pharmacy Technician performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS). Please note the following important details regarding this role: This role is an onsite position and will report onsite daily as scheduled Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including weekends & holidays as scheduled Work Status Available: Per Diem / On Call, Day Positions specified as “on call/per diem” refer to employment consisting of shifts scheduled on an “as needed basis” to fill in for staff vacancies.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma -OR- GED Equivalency
  • Upon Hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee -OR- Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License
  • 2 or more years (> 4160 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and PTCB (Certified Pharmacy Technician) certification - OR - 3 or more years (> 6240 hours) of hospital pharmacy experience if technician does not have PTCB (Certified Pharmacy Technician) certification
  • New Mexico Pharmacy Technician - New Mexico Board of Pharmacy upon hire, Or Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire, Or Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License upon hire
  • Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR)

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework/Training: Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program
  • Advanced PTCB certificate (e.g., compounded sterile products, advanced certified pharmacy technician, medication history certificate, controlled substances)
  • Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state
