About The Position

The Upstate Cancer Center and affiliated clinics provide state of the art cancer care to the patients it serves. This pharmacist will primarily provide pharmacy services and supervisory oversight for Upstate's Cancer Center - Downtown Location. As needed, they may also be required to travel to and provide services/collaboration with other associated Upstate Oncology Center Clinics and/or Upstate University Hospital. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Pharmacy for Hematology-Oncology Services and the hospital's Pharmacy Department, this individual will manage pharmacy operations for the Downtown Cancer Center Location. This includes management of a modern sterile products laboratory. As a senior pharmacist, this individual will hold direct supervisory responsibility for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and staff at the Upstate Cancer Center - Downtown Location. The applicant will manage the preparation and oversight of oncology treatments. This includes, but is not limited to, patient profile review, sterile and non-sterile medication validation/preparation, patient counseling, formulary management, provider collaboration, financial oversight, and staff/provider communication. This individual will also help in the maintenance of pharmacy cleanroom environments.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D.
  • NYS license and registration - or eligible.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a hospital, healthcare environment, or sterile products/cancer center environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous pharmacy oncology experience.
  • Completion of a PGY-2 Oncology Residency.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
