Job Summary: The Large Power Systems Division currently has an opening for an Senior Engineer within our Aftertreatment & Exhaust Systems (AT&ES) performance engineering team. This role will give you the opportunity to help customers meet local air board emission by creating new and innovative aftertreatment design solutions. With your help, our products will continue to significantly reduce harmful diesel and gas engine exhaust emissions. What you will do: This role will be responsible for identifying customer solutions (DTO) outside of traditional NPI. It is responsible for understanding system interactions that will enable our solutions to both meet Caterpillar requirements and customer deliverables. This position will work closely with the end customer and dealers to gather requirements and collaborates on designs. It will work closely with product groups, EP, Marine, O&G to deliver a quality product in a timely manner at the lowest possible cost, while delivering customer value. In this role, the Senior Engineer also works closely with AT&ES performance engineers to understand performance tradeoffs. This role is critical for the execution of high value DTO projects and supplying quotations development for custom or new designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Material Science, Chemisty, or closely related curriculum.
  • Process Management: Extensive knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
  • Analytical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications: Working understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Problem Solving: Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Technical Excellence: Working knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Project Management: Working knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
