At a high level, the Senior Performance Engineer is managing the portfolios of solar PV generating fleets. This is an internal stakeholder and external customer facing role. Key responsibilities will center around maintaining operating indicators at high levels, alerting service managers of trending issues, providing research and analytical support for diagnosing field problems, creating and executing on plant betterment action plans, and developing advanced computational methods. Also, as a core member of the O&M team, the Senior Performance Engineer may be involved in complex contract negotiations as the representative subject matter expert. The Senior Performance Engineer will grow into a high-level position and will eventually become an expert on solar generation theory as well as data evaluation and diagnostic techniques.

  • Manage portfolios of solar PV generating fleets.
  • Maintain operating indicators at high levels.
  • Alert service managers of trending issues.
  • Provide research and analytical support for diagnosing field problems.
  • Create and execute plant betterment action plans.
  • Develop advanced computational methods.
  • Participate in complex contract negotiations as a subject matter expert.
  • Conduct performance theory and modeling.
  • Perform analysis and reporting for operating plants.
  • Work closely with remote operations centers to develop advanced monitoring tools.
  • Propose solutions to improve equipment uptime and generation potential.
  • Conduct formal uncertainty analysis on instrumentation systems.
  • Demonstrate project guarantees and author performance test procedures.
  • Assist sales teams with project guarantees and contract negotiations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, or physics; graduate degree is a bonus.
  • 5-10 years of experience in performance engineering, reliability engineering, or similar.
  • Training in energy systems with understanding of PV performance prediction.
  • Proficiency with Python or Matlab programming environments; Python preferred.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and accurately in spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with complex systems data.
  • Ability to work in cross-matrix teams and mentor others.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to work onsite in Chandler, AZ, with potential remote flexibility for highly experienced candidates.
  • Experience with international code writing committees.
  • Participation in presenting papers and moderating panels at international symposiums.
