About The Position

As Senior People Ops Generalist, you'll have a meaningful impact across all People programs and stages of the employee lifecycle at Lightship. Reporting to the VP of People (based in CA), this role will serve as the operational backbone of the People function and primary People presence for our Colorado office. We’re seeking a highly organized, adaptable professional who brings a people-centered mindset and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to support employees well.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in People Operations, HR, or similar roles
  • End-to-end experience across employee lifecycle
  • Employee relations and/or HRBP experience directly supporting managers
  • Strong working knowledge of US employment laws with direct experience supporting multi-state employees (CO, CA, WA, OR, NY, MI)
  • Demonstrated operational excellence including managing detail-oriented processes with accuracy, consistency, and sound judgment
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information

Nice To Haves

  • Startup experience, ideally in manufacturing, hardware, or factory environments
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employees
  • Experience with Rippling, Confluence, Jira, Google Workspace, Lever, Ramp

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary People Ops point of contact for employees and manager questions related to policies, benefits, leaves, and other People programs.
  • Own end-to-end onboarding and offboarding to deliver a consistent, compliant, and welcoming experience.
  • Administer benefits programs including enrollments, QLEs, 401(k), and leaves (FMLA, CO FAMLI, CA PFL, etc), in partnership with vendors and leadership.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and workplace injury processes in partnership with Lightship’s Safety Team and insurance providers.
  • Support workplace accommodations and the interactive process (ADA/FEHA).
  • Support performance review cycles, feedback processes, employee development initiatives, and manager engagement.
  • Partner with Payroll on timekeeping, deductions, audits, and employee pay questions.
  • Own HRIS administration (Rippling), ensuring accurate data/files, workflows, reporting, and documentation.
  • Support employee relations matters including documentation, policy/process enforcement, investigations, and escalation of high-risk matters.
  • Maintain People policy, handbook updates, required postings, and compliance training.
  • Drive continuous improvement of People Ops processes, metrics, and systems.
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and values-aligned workplace culture.
  • Provide ad hoc Recruiting support and coordinate employment-based immigration (H-1B, TN, GC) with external counsel.
