About the position

The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for monitoring, managing, and reconciling payroll taxes at both the employer and employee levels. This role includes ensuring compliance with tax regulations, preparing and reviewing various tax filings, and coordinating with external service providers. The position plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate payroll tax reporting and supporting the overall tax compliance efforts of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Submits and reconciles payroll tax reporting after each pay run to ensure accurate filings by tax service provider.
  • Manages tax updates within ERP and outside service provider systems.
  • Completes requests for data related to annual business filings for the Corporate Director of Tax.
  • Coordinates the preparation and execution of W2s with the third-party tax vendor.
  • Prepares and reconciles the bi-weekly payroll tax funding template.
  • Reviews quarterly payroll tax filings.
  • Reconciles payroll taxes to the general ledger and assists with any necessary journal entries.
  • Determines taxability of certain benefits and payments to colleagues.
  • Assists in the preparation of tax-exempt filings, Form 990, and state filings.
  • Assists in the preparation of corporate and partnership tax returns.
  • Assists with sales and use tax filings including monthly returns, renewal of tax exemptions, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting
  • 3 years Tax compliance in a multi-corporate organization
  • 3 years Payroll tax preparation for multi-corporate organizations
  • Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Detail oriented
  • Proficient in Excel
