About The Position

Fortis Fire & Safety is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to take charge of the payroll process for the organization, including handling payroll tasks for our California & FL entities. This role involves establishing standard operating procedures (SOPs), identifying opportunities for process improvement, and conducting payroll audits.

Requirements

Associate or Bachelor Degree in a relevant field.
5+ years proven experience in payroll processing
Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations. California experience preferred.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a senior or lead payroll role highly preferred.
Prevailing Wage Payroll experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage and execute payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for payroll processes to enhance efficiency.
Identify areas for improvement within the payroll function and propose actionable solutions.
Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll integration.
Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare reports as required.
Assist with additional clerical tasks related to payroll as needed.
